Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to:

• Design, develop, and implement next generation data platforms.
• Contribute to the design of backend databases and queries.
• Work independently with minimal insight to develop software that conforms to Visa's high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance.
• Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Develop solutions to generate code for data pipelines using Python/Jinja code generation framework.
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / nonfunctional business requirements.
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data automation pipeline to provide actionable insights.
• Analyze input Data elements across multiple sources and build Data lineage for the Asset Management System.
• Work on emerging technologies, building highly scalable, secure, reliable and fault tolerant distributed systems.
• Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate.
• Provide third-level support to business users.
• Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
• Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
• Find opportunities to create, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery. Provide third-level support to business
• users.
• Keep up with current and developing engineering trends.
• Work with architects, systems analysts, project managers and other developers to efficiently implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technology.
• Position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Engineering or related field
• Position requires experience in the following skills:
  • Utilizing Python for data pipeline code generation;
  • Utilizing SQL to design backend databases and queries;
  • Unix scripting using Bash to design, develop and implement next gen data platforms;
  • Utilizing GIT and Visual Studio Code for version control, platform development and code reviews;
  • Big Data Analytics for analyzing data assets managed by the Data Platform;
  • Software engineering code generation for data pipelines;
  • Using Airflow for scheduling and orchestrating data pipelines; and
  • Designing and implementing algorithms based on complex logic flow with backpropagation.

Additional Information

Worksite:Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is$155,300.00 to $248,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
