Description
Underwriter is responsible for achieving profit, growth, service and expense objectives through the financial analysis and pricing of organizations book of
business. This position is responsible for developing recommendations for pricing terms; offering structure and risk analysis for highly complex and visible cases,
primarily in the large employer markets that directly impact organizational goals; profit drivers and the organization's financial value statement. This role serves as support on concerns pertaining to underwriting, performance guarantees and other financial considerations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the utilization and financial experience of customers and prospects; primarily focused on complex cases within the Health Plan marketplace
- Researches, analyzes, develops and applies advanced knowledge of pricing strategies in the PBM industry; provides underwriting services to determine pricing and monitors accounts to ensure they remain on a profitable basis
- Provides support to Sales and Client Engagement, assisting in the development of client presentations and negotiations pertaining to pricing, and performance
guarantees
- Consults with other departments such as Legal and IT, and participates in meetings as required on issues that have financial implications
- Prepares materials and reports, and presents to Leadership and Executive Leadership teams.
- Acts as a primary source of financial truth in legal contracting of new and existing clients, ensuring detailed contract clauses match the underlying financials and do not put company at additional risk
- Develops and maintains a strong positive working relationship with leadership in many areas, including Sales, Network Management, Trade Relations, and Client
Engagement, as well as other key business owners within organization
- Trains and mentors less experienced team members

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, accounting, finance, data analytics or related area of study,
- Expert in using Microsoft Excel especially with v-lookups and pivot tables.
- 1-2 years of related work experience in Finance or Accounting, (PBM industry experience a plus). May consider recent grads for the right candidate..
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Prefer candidates with SQL experience (Don't want a SQL coder)

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr.
