Pay-rate: $30/h - $40/h on w2 (without benefits)
Position Overview
The client seeks a Technical Operations Contractor (Support Engineer) to manage device setup, troubleshooting, and DevOps support for products and internal device operations.
This role is hands-on and fast-paced ideal for someone who s independent, resourceful, and comfortable supporting executives and design teams. You ll set up and maintain prototype devices for demos and meetings, resolve technical issues, and document repeatable processes.
The role offers high visibility with leadership and requires the ability to diagnose and fix device or web-based errors using available documentation and tools.
Key Responsibilities
Device Operations
- Manage and support prototype devices of varying types and sizes.
- Set up and configure devices for leadership and design meetings.
- Handle device inventory, ordering, flashing, firmware updates, and secure shipping.
- Perform command-line operations, application sideloading, and troubleshooting.
- Respond to urgent device setup requests within one hour (including lunch hours when needed).
- Create easy-to-follow guides for non-technical users.
- Document device setup steps, troubleshooting procedures, and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of devices and operations.
- Support team members by identifying and explaining technical issues clearly.
- Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in device setup and support workflows.
- Recommend and implement improvements to simplify repeat tasks.
- Build or document simple automation to reduce manual effort.
- Promote standardization and consistency across operations.
Required Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma minimum (Bachelor s not required)
- Experience: 3+ years in technical operations or IT/device support
- Technical Skills:
- Command-line proficiency (Linux, macOS, Windows)
- Basic understanding of troubleshooting hardware and connectivity
- Ability to follow technical documents and execute commands accurately
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Calm, patient, and professional when assisting non-technical users
- Excellent attention to detail and adherence to security protocols
Preferred Skills
- AWS exposure (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.) - nice to have, not required
- Prior experience supporting Alexa or similar connected device ecosystems
- Familiarity with DevOps or cloud administration environments
Schedule & Work Setup
- Core Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pacific
