Job Title: Technical Specialist Senior (Intune Engineer)
Location: 3700 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Contract Duration: 6+ Months

Job Summary:

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist (Intune Engineer) to support and enhance the state s endpoint management and security posture. The contractor will play a key role in migrating from Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) to Intune, implementing advanced security features, and providing day-to-day MDM and M365 support for multiple state agencies.

This role requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Configuration Manager, and Azure Active Directory, along with strong collaboration skills to work with Azure, Identity Management, and Security teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the migration from MCM to Intune, ensuring seamless policy and workload transitions.

  • Manage and secure devices across multiple platforms using Intune and M365 tools.

  • Implement and maintain endpoint security policies, including antivirus, encryption, conditional access, and compliance settings.

  • Integrate Azure AD, On-Prem AD, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and related M365 services for unified management.

  • Develop automation scripts (PowerShell/Bash) to streamline deployments and improve compliance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical incidents, providing Tier-3 level support.

  • Document configurations, policies, and procedures while generating compliance and usage reports.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to enhance security and operational efficiency.

  • Contribute to the execution of the 2024 2027 Intune Roadmap to implement new and upcoming security features.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft 365 (Azure AD, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint).

  • 3+ years working with Hybrid-Azure Joined domains and device management.

  • Strong expertise in security practices: device encryption, MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection.

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and configuration management.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, SCCM, and M365 licensing/migration.

  • Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills; proven ability to work in cross-functional and multinational teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Endpoint Administrator, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent.

  • Experience in enterprise-level MDM implementation and Intune security modernization.

  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
