Job Description:

Role synopsis

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will provide support for a significant Gulf of America producing field. Candidates must possess exceptional technical skills and expertise in classical reservoir engineering analyses and wells management. This role is integral to a team of engineers and geoscientists, with the successful candidate serving as a technical leader for the asset.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will be instrumental in determining the strategic direction for the field and associated assets. Additionally, they will develop tools to assess depletion plans and project options. This position offers the chosen candidate considerable exposure to one of the most dynamic and valuable regions within the bp portfolio, affording substantial influence over the future development of the fields.

Key Accountabilities & Essential Experience
  • Lead integrated efforts in reservoir development, well and field management, project maturity, new well planning.
  • Must have a strong proficiency in:
  • Reservoir performance and prediction with strong uncertainty and risk analyses
    • Classical reservoir engineering techniques and data integration
    • Reservoir Surveillance: Planning & evaluation
    • Use of the PETEX Suite and Numerical Simulation Model & post processing
    • Field development planning
    • Fluid properties
    • Resource estimation and reporting per requirements
  • The Individual must be able to:
    • Integrate across multiple teams
    • Manage multiple activities and respond to changing business priorities
    • Deliver on short-term deadlines
    • Coach and build capability in less experienced engineers
  • Excellent teamwork, technical presentation and interpersonal skills are essential.

Essential Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 12 years reservoir engineering experience; minimum of 10 years in offshore environments (shelf and/or deepwater)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering subject area

Desirable criteria & qualifications

Advanced skills in the following aspects of classical reservoir engineering techniques including:
  • Water Injection development and performance management
  • Material Balance techniques and Pressure transient analyses (analytical, numerical, multi-well, deconvolution)
  • Ensemble numerical modeling and prediction
  • Recovery Factor and Benchmarking skills

This role is for an individual contributor; ideally candidates will have recent experience (within the last 3 years) as an individual contributor in an integrated team.
