Principal Process Engineer

Contract

We're seeking a hands-on, highly skilled Principal Process Engineer to lead complex engineering initiatives from concept to completion. You'll work with cutting-edge sterile fill-finish equipment and plant systems, optimizing performance and ensuring our facilities operate at world-class standards. This is a high-impact role where your technical expertise will drive innovation, mentor future leaders, and shape the future of our capital projects in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead & Deliver Projects: Manage design, procurement, installation, and start-up of new utilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Engineer for Excellence: Optimize packaging and manufacturing systems for peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Own the Process: Drive URS development, risk assessments, vendor management, and FAT/SAT execution to meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Be the Go-To Expert: Troubleshoot and maintain systems including high-purity water, clean steam, compressed air, nitrogen, HVAC, freeze dryers, and fill-finish lines.
  • Mentor & Influence: Guide junior engineers and champion continuous improvement across teams.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, Validation, and EHS to align engineering solutions with business goals.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, facilities, or utilities-preferably in biotech, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Deep knowledge of GMP/FDA regulations, aseptic processing, capital project execution, and advanced utility systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD/SolidWorks; CMMS and PLC experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with a hands-on mindset.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) environment.
  • Proven track record managing cross-functional teams, budgets, and timelines.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and gown for cleanroom access.
