Job Description
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: As part of the pathology software engineering group, the Bioinformatic Software Engineer will work with a passionate team using technology to solve real-world and life-impacting challenges. You will develop bioinformatics and biomedical informatics solutions that will help diagnose a tumor specimen and suggest treatment paths for cancer. As a mid/senior level bioinformatics software engineer you will work with our informatics teams to help us continue pioneering next-generation clinical software systems, spawning from leading petabyte-scale biological datasets, high-performance computing-enabled bioinformatics pipelines, and other ground breaking systems to help visualize and report genomic results that guide treatment decisions and enrollment of patients onto the clinical trials.

Role Overview:
- Work and collaborate with a top-notch team of software engineers, bioinformatics researchers, system engineers, and pathologists to support clinical-grade diagnostic analysis, results, and reporting informatics infrastructure.
- Collaborate, design, implement, test, and deploy ground breaking scalable automation pipelines and multi-tiered full-stack software systems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including user guides, operational run books, and standard operating procedures.
- Develop DevOps framework and implement standards, processes, and controls for release and deployment activities.
- Develop API services, data dashboards, visualizations, and pioneering web portals.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, or related informatics field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with programming languages like Python/Java, or JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS or 5+ years of experience building high-throughput and scalable RESTful APIs using Python frameworks (such as Flask, FastAPI, etc)
- Shown ability with either SQL or NoSQL database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB
- Shown experience working with cloud platforms preferably AWS.
- 2+ years of experience with agile software development practices, and experience using tools such as JIRA, or Rally
- Experience with code management systems such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.
- Experience with data pipelines
