Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PL/SQL with expertise in query optimization and performance tuning
Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) SQL Server Agent and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Redgate or Idera
Solid understanding of database security backup strategies recovery models and high availability configurations
Proven ability to enforce development standards across teams
Preferred Skills:
Someone with a combination of DBA architect and developer experience is a plus
Familiarity with ETL processes PowerShell scripting and/or Azure SQL is a plus
Responsible for data analysis and database management. Involved in maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning. Knowledge of the utilities and production tools used for data storage management to support the Application Team. Coordinates physical changes to computer databases; codes, tests, and implements physical database, applying knowledge of data base management system. Designs logical and physical databases reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical data base (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method). Establishes physical database parameters. Uses structured query language (SQL) to define database objects using database definition language (DDL) and control access to database objects using data control language (DCL). Language descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions. Calculates optimum values for database parameters, such as amount of computer memory to be used by database, following manuals and using calculator. Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items, such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data. Specifies which users can access data bases and what data can be accessed by user. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.

Provide advanced SQL and PL/SQL coding expertise including writing and optimizing functions procedures and packages
SQL & PL/SQL Development
Review analyze and test code written by others to ensure performance scalability and adherence to best practices
Support application developers with SQL design and data access strategies
Database Architecture & Design
Collaborate with the Information Technology Solutions Architect to design robust database solutions that support enterprise applications and system interfaces across diverse platforms
Lead the development and enforcement of database policies procedures and standards related to stored procedures packages and functions
Plan and design database hosting architecture in alignment with State standards strategic direction and business requirements
Provide technical leadership in the design and management of physical database structures to ensure optimal performance and scalability
Database Administration & Maintenance
Install configure and maintain SQL Server instances across development test and production environments
Perform regular backups restores and recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability
Monitor and maintain database performance availability and security using tools such as SSMS SQL Server Agent and third-party monitoring solutions (eg SolarWinds Redgate Idera)
Manage indexes partitions statistics and schema parameters to support peak performance
Apply patches updates and version upgrades as needed
Monitoring Troubleshooting & Support
Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system alerts
Analyze logs trace data and performance metrics to diagnose and resolve issues
Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to ensure server stability and uptime
Oversee the creation and validation of physical database components (eg tables indexes triggers constraints) and coordinate initial server and file system setup
Data Integrity Security & Governance
Implement and manage user roles permissions and access controls
Ensure compliance with data security policies standards and industry best practices
Participate in disaster recovery planning and high availability strategies
Develop and enforce database models access controls and documentation standards
Work with data warehouse teams to support data transfer and transformation processes
