Each staff member assigned to this project must have a background screening that is equivalent to a Level Two (2) screening standard.
This is a fixed fee/hourly based project which is inclusive of travel, lodging, per diem expenses and all other costs associated with the completion of the associated tasks.
Interviews:
In the event an interview is requested, in-person interviews will be conducted at Ocoee, FL. At the discretion of the hiring manager, interviews may be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams. A phone interview may also be requested as a first step.
Telecommuting: Telecommuting is not an option for this position. This is NOT a remote position.
Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is a critical member of the Network Operations Team, responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of the departments network infrastructure. This position reports to the Security Risk Compliance Office Program Director of the Florida s Turnpike Enterprises (FTE). This position requires that the incumbent have advanced technical expertise in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting complex network environments, including routers, switches, wireless systems, and load balancers.
Responsibilities
Management of Layer 2 and 3 protocols including routers and switches. Focus on sustaining the necessary data throughput rate by monitoring network activity to mitigate performance problems.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot connectivity for the FTE s Network Infrastructure including campus, roadside, backbone, LAN, Walk-in Centers, partner networks and third-party connectivity.
Review FTE s network architecture and design including failover capabilities and recommend changes to optimize performance and reliability.
Implement and oversee network security measures, including access controls, segmentation, and disaster recovery plans, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Leverage SolarWinds to create dashboards to monitor the Network Infrastructure and proactively troubleshoot performance, connectivity including management reporting dashboards.
Monitor and deploy patches and updates to all network infrastructure routers, switches, firewalls, and other supporting equipment.
Participate and support Network and Security Operations team in designing Cloud architecture. This includes capacity, failover, stability, and security design.
Maintain accurate inventory controls supporting FTE s network infrastructure.
Develop and maintain network infrastructure diagrams and depict any changes along with associated documentation including change control approvals.
Assist the SRCO team with investigation, triage forensic analysis, and evidence preservation regarding cybersecurity events.
Ensure compliance with established standards, polices, configuration guidelines established by SRCO and Industry best practices such as NIST.
Requirements:
Education:
- Four (4) year degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Must have 11-12+ years of hands-on experience with:
o Layer 2/3 routing protocols including troubleshooting complex issues
o Deployment and management of routers, switches troubleshooting.
o Private, Public, and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructures such as AWS, Azure platforms
- Must have 5 to 7 years experience with Unix (RedHat), Windows, VMWare, and other platforms
- 2 to 3 years working experience with vulnerability scanning tool (Rapid7 Nexpose preferred)
Certification:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA REQUIRED)
- Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA REQUIRED)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE preferred)
Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
