Job Description

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Bank Post Trade Technology team, you will lead a technical area and promote impactful initiatives across teams, technologies, and projects within Markets. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives, serving as the primary decision maker for your teams and championing innovation and solution delivery. As an integral part of an agile team, you will work to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your capabilities and contributions will promote significant business impact, as you apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to address a diverse array of challenges spanning multiple technologies and applications. You will collaborate closely with Desk-aligned engineering, Production Management, Middle Office, QR, and Projects teams to build, enhance, and support Core Services essential to business operations on the strategic platform. Your role will be hands-on, working within an Agile, CI/CD environment, and on projects prioritized at the top level of senior management.

Job responsibilities
  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Well-versed in C, C++ or Python programming language or similar
  • Proficient in Amazon Web Services (AWS) including Aurora, DynamoDB, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, Kinesis, Lambda. AWS Certified Practitioner, Developer or Architect preferred
  • Proficient in Source Code management tools, Git and BitBucket preferred
  • Proficient in Deployment tools, Jenkins and Terraform preferred
  • Familiar with Monitoring tools, Cloud watch, Prometheus and Grafana preferred
  • Skilled in forming complex applications as well as scripting, complete with design and workflow diagramming including cloud-native applications
  • Experience with latest AI Models including Llama 2, GPT 3-4o, Claude 3.5-4
