Position Summary

The University of Rhode Island (URI) seeks a Data Migration Lead to oversee the planning, execution, and leadership of the data conversion workstream for our Workday implementation. This role is responsible for the end-to-end migration of data from URI s legacy PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll systems to Workday, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and quality throughout the process. The ideal candidate has led complex data migrations on Workday projects, demonstrates deep expertise with ETL tools and methodologies, and preferably has experience in a higher education environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full data conversion lifecycle for URI s Workday implementation, from requirements through post-go-live validation.
  • Develop and manage detailed data migration plans, schedules, and deliverables for URI.
  • Oversee extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from URI s PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll modules to Workday.
  • Define data mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation processes in collaboration with URI functional and technical leads.
  • Collaborate with URI business stakeholders, technical staff, and project consultants to resolve data-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with URI s data quality, security, and governance standards.
  • Manage assigned URI and consulting resources within the data migration workstream.
  • Coordinate and conduct data validation and parallel testing with URI business stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates, risk identification, and issue management for the data migration track to URI project leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master s preferred).
  • 7+ years experience in data migration/conversion, with at least 3+ years leading Workday data conversion projects.
  • Expertise in ETL methodologies and tools such as Workday Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday Studio, Talend, Informatica, SQL, Alteryx, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience with data conversion for PeopleSoft and Workday (HCM, Finance, Payroll).
  • Prior experience managing data migration teams on enterprise-scale projects, ideally in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of URI s cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with data and business processes in higher education, preferably at a public research university.
  • Workday and/or PeopleSoft certification(s).
  • Experience with cloud-based data migration and secure data handling.
