Overview
The Project Manager will lead and implement projects assigned through the Project Management Office (PMO) that support key strategic initiatives across the Research Institute and, at times, the hospital enterprise. This role focuses on process improvement, change management, and systems implementation. The ideal candidate will have approximately 5 years of project management experience and strong skills in stakeholder collaboration, risk management, and PMO methodologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage PMO-assigned projects, including planning, defining scope, ensuring accountability, establishing deliverables, timelines, communication plans, and training across the team and institute.
- Assist the Program Manager in developing and implementing strategic and support plans for the PMO.
- Plan and execute project improvement initiatives.
- Lead Business Analyst activities as required.
- Manage Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, delivering financial assessments, project charters, project plans, RFPs, bidders lists, reference call questions, and final recommendations.
- Educate stakeholders on PMO methodologies and processes.
- Plan, direct, and optimize activities, interdependencies, and resources across projects.
- Develop and utilize measurement activities to report on project effectiveness, return on investment (ROI), and other success metrics.
- Maintain all project documentation tailored to each project s needs.
- Identify and manage risks and issues, lead corrective actions, and ensure policy compliance.
- Utilize educational materials and opportunities to engage stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and PMO team members to enhance the quality of project and program delivery.
- Engage in ongoing learning and training related to project/program management, business analysis, and research administration.
Required Skills
- Advanced Knowledge: Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guidelines, including productivity tools, project charters, work plans, and budgets.
- Intermediate Knowledge:
- Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) guidelines.
- Quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
- Change management principles, including organizational dynamics, change theory, and improvement methods/tools.
- Risk management principles.
- Fundamental Knowledge: Healthcare and/or research operations and systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and diagramming.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Solid analytical and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and make data-driven decisions/recommendations.
- Strong collaboration skills with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to influence others outside direct span of control.
Education and Certifications
- Required: Bachelor s degree.
- Preferred:
- Lean/Six Sigma certification or PMP certification.
- 3 5 years of project management experience.
