Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail oriented and experienced ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) QA Engineer to join our team. The ETL QA engineer will be responsible for validating data sources, extracting data, applying transformation logic, and loading the data into the target systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, as well as hands-on experience with ETL processes and testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and ETL developers to understand data requirements and design test cases.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases.
• Create automated test scripts (in Datagaps ETL testing tool) for ETL processes.
• Create manual test scripts for tests that cannot be done in our ETL testing tool.
• Validate source data and ensure data quality and integrity during the extraction, transformation, and loading phases.
• Identify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in data outputs.
• Perform data reconciliation to verify that data is accurately processed and loaded into the target systems.
• Work with large datasets and complex data models to understand data lineage and transformations.
• Execute backend data-driven tests to ensure the accuracy of ETL processes.
• Utilize SQL queries and the DataGaps tool to perform data analysis and validation.
• Report test results, track and manage defects, and work with the development team to resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, PII, data governance and data security requirements.
• Maintain documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in ETL testing or a similar role.
• 2+ years experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, DataStage, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• 2+ years experience in writing complex SQL queries for data validation and testing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team.

Nice to have:

• Cloud testing experience or understanding of cloud computing services like Azure.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Experience working on healthcare data.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
• Testing experience using automated tool: Datagaps or similar
• Experience working with Jira.
