Salary: $110,000.00 USD Annually - $140,000.00 USD Annually
Description: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with specialized experience in transformer design, particularly in medium voltage instrumentation transformers, including Potential Transformers (PTs) and Voltage Transformers (VTs). The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and optimization of transformer products for utility, industrial, and commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop medium voltage transformers, including PTs and VTs, for metering and protection applications.
  • Perform electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD and simulation tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and sales to support product lifecycle.
  • Conduct design validation and testing in accordance with IEEE, IEC, and ANSI standards.
  • Support failure analysis and root cause investigations for field and production issues.
  • Stay current with industry standards, materials, and emerging technologies in transformer design.
  • Provide technical support for customer inquiries, proposals, and product customization.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in transformer design, with emphasis on medium voltage instrumentation transformers.
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, insulation systems, and core materials.
  • Hands-on experience with PTs, VTs, and related metering/protection devices.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Ansys Maxwell, COMSOL).
  • Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI/IEC standards for transformer design and testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.


Preferred Skills
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for dry-type and oil-filled transformers.
  • Experience in utility or industrial power systems.
  • Ability to lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
