Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Scientific Program Analyst to support a Medical R&D Program focused on Blast Injury Research. The position is located on-site in Fort Detrick, MD, with some local and other travel for meetings.

Position Summary:

This position provides scientific expertise and program management support to the Blast Injury Research Coordinating Office (BIRCO). The analyst will apply their technical background to advise and assist BIRCO in coordinating DoD-sponsored biomedical research programs focused on the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of blast-related injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the coordination of blast injury research across the DoD by identifying knowledge gaps, shaping research priorities, and aligning efforts with strategic objectives.
• Promote information sharing among operational, intelligence, medical, and materiel development communities.
• Facilitate collaborative research among DoD laboratories, other federal agencies, academia, and industry to leverage resources and accelerate the delivery of effective blast injury prevention and treatment strategies to Service members.
• Conduct detailed analyses of programmatic and technical data, prepare high-quality information products, and provide actionable recommendations to BIRCO leadership.
• Track and report on DoD blast injury research efforts and assess the global state-of-science to inform future research directions and initiatives.
• Support Executive Agent responsibilities as outlined in DoD Directive 6025.21E, operating in a dynamic, high-visibility environment with minimal supervision.
• Represent BIRCO in interagency forums and stakeholder engagements to coordinate enterprise-wide blast injury research efforts.

Qualifications:

• PhD (or equivalent degree and experience) in a field related to blast injuries (e.g., biomedical science, medicine, neuroscience, human physiology).
• Demonstrated experience in DoD science and technology management, research analysis, and executive-level communication.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate group activities and work independently.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and manage diverse, evolving priorities.

Additional Requirements:

• U.S. citizenship.
• Eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (Interim Secret may be required to start).
