Cleared IBM Mainframe Platform Software Developer

This is a Full-Time (W2 Contractor) Remote Position supporting The United States Postal Service (USPS). Full benefits, PTO, and paid holidays is inclusive to this position.

Requirements: ship or Work Status Authorization; Prior experience in supporting a Federal Government Agency/Project within the past 2 years; Public Trust Clearance; Completed College Degree is highly preferred; 5+ years of relevant professional experience including design, development, maintenance, production support, coding, testing, documentation, quality assurance & implementation of IBM Mainframe platform using COBOL, JCL, D2B, SQL, VSAM, CICS, and FTP. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/SDLC- VersionOne, ServiceNow

Project Description
Under client guidance and direction, the contractor will provide support, and review and/or participate in the development of various initiatives and other responsibilities.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in design, development, maintenance, production support, coding, testing, documentation, quality assurance and implementation on an IBM Mainframe platform using COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS and FTP.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and management tools (preferably VersionOne) and IT Service Management Systems (preferably ServiceNow).
  • Strong SDLC Software Development Life Cycle background (Planning, Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Deployment and Maintenance)

Preferred Skills:

  • Analyze existing Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS and FTP application objects documenting current processes ensuring the information is accurate and can be easily understood by the business owner so they can make decisions on modernizing that applications processes.
  • Refresh the Mainframe SIT and CAT application environments with Production data when requested.
  • Execute the Mainframe SIT and CAT batch processing cycles when requested.
  • Resolve any Mainframe SIT and CAT batch processing errors that occur.
  • Apply business requested requirements to the Mainframe application COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS and FTP objects when requested.
  • Resolve all defects deemed critical for production before implementing.
  • Will ensure the Technology Solutions Life Cycle (TSLC) process is being followed having the USPS Software Architect along with the USPS Business Owner(s) review and approve the SIT and CAT results before migrating into the Production environment.
  • Strong implementation background and ability to solution complex business requirements.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and management tools (preferably VersionOne) and IT Service Management Systems (preferably ServiceNow).
  • Update configuration diagrams and other documentation.
  • Utilize an iterative development methodology and attend Agile ceremonies for all work done under this contract. The methodology must allow users to examine the validity and accuracy of the business requirements and to respond to the usability and performance of any new deployments or installs.
  • Provides on-call and after hours support as required to support the production systems.
  • As directed by the Software Architect, effectively and proactively work with customers/end users of application(s) to ensure needs are being met / managed in a positive manner.

Education:

A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of service is preferred.
