Job Details

Our client is seeking a lead-level engineer with deep experience in enterprise encryption and key management to play a pivotal role in advancing their data protection strategy. This is a highly visible role where you ll own the design, implementation, and operation of encryption solutions across a global enterprise. If you ve worked with platforms like Fortanix DSM, and know how to mentor teams while navigating complex regulatory and technical environments, this is your chance to lead at scale.


  • Location: Orange County, CA (preferred) but open to Remote travel 1x/month
  • Compensation: This job is expected to about 150-160k base plus strong benefits package
  • No Visa Sponsorship Available for this role

What You ll Do:


  • Operate and optimize enterprise encryption and key management platforms, with a strong focus on Fortanix DSM
  • Design and implement scalable encryption solutions for applications, databases, and storage on-prem and in the cloud
  • Lead integration efforts across application and DevOps teams, including onboarding and support frameworks
  • Define and enforce policies for key lifecycle management, from generation to secure destruction
  • Provide mentorship and create training resources to support internal teams and offshore partners

What Gets You the Job:


  • Proven expertise in enterprise encryption platforms Fortanix DSM highly preferred, but AWS KMS, HashiCorp Vault, or Thales acceptable
  • Strong understanding of symmetric vs. asymmetric cryptography and common algorithms like AES and RSA
  • Experience implementing storage-level encryption, file-level encryption (TDE), and field-level encryption strategies
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring technical teams, with excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, NIST, and HIPAA
