JOB DESCRIPTION
Develops high level design for solutions. Develops artifacts to be used be used in downstream SDLC phases. Leads technical resources during the Detailed Design and Development phase, leading the team from design to solution deployment. Coordinates technical aspects of deployment, including hardware environments, certification, and software deployment.
Position Summary
The IT Architect is responsible for the technical alignment and quality of 4 to 5 projects in the OT Group. The role designs solutions that are compliant with architectural standards and processes. The architect leads technical implementation of solutions and delivery.
Essential Responsibilities
- Architectural Operations: Lead multi-year OT projects from an architectural standpoint. Design, review, and approve projects and work efforts to ensure compliance with architectural and security standards. Track and manage exceptions to standards. Continuously improve operational processes. Assess, report, and make recommendations to eliminate operational risk related to technology or architecture.
- Technical Design & Implementation: Develop high-level and detailed technical designs for solutions to satisfy business requirements. Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of solution implementation, including application, database, security, and infrastructure deployment.
- Technical Expertise: Provide consultation and direction to delivery and operational teams on optimal architecture for respective solutions. Maintain state-of-the-art expertise in enterprise architecture technologies, frameworks, and industry innovations.
- Leadership: Lead work cross-organizationally through coaching, feedback, and significant interactions with leaders. Govern work efforts to ensure alignment with reference architecture, IT strategy, and policy. Collaborate cross-organizationally to influence alignment and adoption of enterprise architecture standards.
- Planning and Strategy: Participate in the creation and renewal of overarching IT strategy. Develop and enforce reference architecture standards aligned with IT strategies and principles. Contribute to architecture roadmaps and provide input to technology roadmaps. Ensure domain IT strategy aligns with enterprise architecture framework and standards.
- Process & Standards: Adhere to architectural processes and standards, contributing to and developing new standards as required. Ensure high-quality delivered solutions with limited risk that can be seamlessly assimilated into operational support models.
- Continuous Improvement: Pursue solution and operational enhancements and innovation for continuous improvement.
- Regulatory & Security Compliance: Ensure regulatory and security compliance for new and existing solutions.
- Vendor Management: Work with vendors for service delivery and evaluating and implementing new technologies.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Science, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience (4 years of experience equivalent to the position).
Experience:
- 10+ years of related functional experience.
- 6+ years of work experience, preferably in a nationally or globally distributed organization.
- 3+ years delivering enterprise technical solutions to meet business objectives.
- 3+ years developing technical solutions with stacks such as MEAN, LAMP, or Microsoft .NET.
- 3+ years SQL Server experience with RDMS such as Oracle or MSQL.
- 3+ years architecting end-to-end technical enterprise solutions.
- Project solution architecture experience.
- Past participation in an architecture role on a large-scale OT project.
- Experience with GE's XA/21 Platform and Schneider's Exostructure Platform.
- Experience deploying Kubernetes in a virtual environment.
- Experience with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or FEAF (a plus).
- Experience with workflow management practices and tools (a plus).
- Experience with server & network configurations (a plus).
- Experience in the energy or utility business (a plus).
Skills & Knowledge:
- Architecture acumen across multiple domains (network, infrastructure, software, hosting models, mobile platforms, security).
- Exposure to diverse systems, technologies, and processing environments in a large OT setting.
- General knowledge of core aspects of enterprise architecture (software, hardware, network, integration, data, hosting models, platform types, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of the architecture governance process.
- Extensive knowledge of future technology trends within area of expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership on technical aspects of large-scale projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
