Job Details
Reporting to the Land Director you will support this fast-paced Land Department with business development, complex lease analysis and other land activities as needed. Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting and ensuring payment and contractual leasehold obligations. Establish and maintain lease and contract data and provide analysis as needed within the Land department and other corporate teams and departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizing corporate tools, including P2 Land, maintain Land files and records.
- Provide lease, contract, and data analysis supporting the Land Department.
- Proved acreage reports and obligation calendars as per company guidelines.
- Monitor Land Department responses/recommendations to complete and publish the monthly calendars to ensure timely handling of all rentals, obligations, and expirations.
- Review land contracts/agreements and advise on their impact to the Company s obligations and goals.
- Work with AP to ensure timely processing of payments.
- Participate in audits, providing supporting documentation and input regarding the setup and maintenance of leases and contracts, generation and monitoring of obligation calendars, and comparison of check proofs and invoices.
- Communicate with Federal, state, local and tribal entities and other leasehold payees to ensure accurate payment.
- Prepare acreage reports and reconcile quarter-over-quarter improvements.
- Support the Land Director in preparing and proofing the annual 10K acreage report and associated files for other key reports.
- Analyze, set up and update agreements in the Land System.
- Become Primary Point of Contact for all P2 Land lease and contract-related issues.
- Assume a leadership role in data conversions, regression, and user acceptance testing for system upgrades.
- Draft, review, and revise contracts, agreements, and letters for the Land Department.
- Serves as SME and a technical contributor within the department.
BACKGROUND
- Solid experience as Land Tech, Lease Analyst or other relevant land- related experience with advanced knowledge of land contracts and their impact on obligations, reporting requirements, acreage calculations, and asset development and retention.
- Experience with land and lease regulations in TX, CA and/or UT
- Strong experience with administrative procedures and systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Teams), SharePoint, database management, file/record maintenance, and other office procedures.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of oil and gas contract and lease terms.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including experience drafting, analyzing and proofing documents.
- Advanced knowledge of land operations and processes in the O&G industry including strong knowledge of both ownership interest and acreage calculations.
- Strong experience establishing and maintaining lease and contract records within the corporate Land system.
- Strong understanding of leasehold and contract obligations and in the payment of rentals, minimum royalties, ROWs, and all other land obligations.
- Strong knowledge of statutes and regulations affecting leasehold and contractual ownership and obligation payments.
