Location: Austin, TX (Remote)

Position Status: Contract

Pay Rate: $65/hr - $70/hr on W2

Position Description:

We re seeking a CPU Core Documentation Engineer to take ownership of creating and delivering high-quality technical documentation for next-generation CPU cores. In this role, you ll collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to produce accurate, accessible, and comprehensive documentation that supports global users and partners.

You will manage the end-to-end documentation process writing, editing, reviewing, and publishing technical materials such as Processor Programming References, data books, white papers, errata, and application notes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of engineering, technical writing, and process excellence, and who is passionate about making complex technology understandable and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the full lifecycle of CPU Core technical documentation from creation to publication.

  • Develop and maintain documentation including Processor Programming References, data-books, white papers, errata, and application notes.

  • Coordinate with design, architecture, and legal teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clarity in all published materials.

  • Implement and manage version control processes using systems such as Git, Perforce, or Subversion.

  • Continuously collect and apply feedback from internal stakeholders and end-users to improve content quality and usability.

  • Partner with CPU design teams to track and document design updates and integrate them into published materials.

  • Support automation of documentation processes through scripting (Python, Perl, or Ruby).

Required Skills / Education:

  • Bachelor s, Master s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • Strong technical writing and editing skills in English with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and organization.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or OpenOffice tools.

  • Familiarity with structured documentation formats (XML, ODT, or similar).

  • Experience with Revision Control Systems (Git, Perforce, CVS, Subversion, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of CPU architecture, semiconductor design, or related engineering terminology.

  • Experience automating documentation workflows with Python, Perl, or Ruby scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on understanding of CPU design principles or x86/ARM Instruction Set Architectures (ISA).

  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure concepts such as servers, networking, storage, and operating systems.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies and tools.
