Job Description:

Infrastructure-Focused Data Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Support both building new infrastructure from scratch and fixing existing infrastructure.
  • Heavy usage of Terraform to manage and provision infrastructure.
  • Must be able to debug, modify, and write new Terraform modules.
  • Must understand EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service): not just provisioning, but also debugging issues inside the cluster.
  • Work involves broad team support and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Needs to handle Airflow, Spark, and Databricks from an infrastructure perspective (not as an application user).
  • Role involves a large scope with many teams depending on the platform's stability.

Required Tech Skills
  • Terraform (mandatory)
  • EKS / Kubernetes
  • Airflow (platform-level, not just DAG writing)
  • Databricks, Spark (from an infra viewpoint)
  • Basic scripting in Python or Go (no need for deep development skills)

Soft Skills & Experience Preferences
  • Proactiveness, strong communication, ability to work across teams.
  • Experience in on-call rotations or high-availability support is a plus.
  • Company size or industry (e.g., entertainment) is less relevant.

Logistics
  • On site 4 days a week in SF
  • 18-month contract to convert
