Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer as this position will support t he Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal (Global ASNT) program, which is within the Nuclear Communications Division (NCN) Division and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

The Global ASNT program acquires and sustains nuclear command, control, and communications terminals for the Air Force nuclear bomber mission.

Increment 1 fields an extremely high frequency (EHF) communications capability using both Milstar and Advanced EHF (AEHF) satellites. Increment 2 fields ultra high frequency (UHF) and high frequency (HF) communications and an Aircrew Alerting System (AAS).

WORK LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA

JOB STATUS: Full time; salaried

TRAVEL: CONUS travel up to 25%, possible surge to 50%, may be required

RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Provide review, analysis and recommendations for system deployment/fielding efforts specifically evaluating local and best-practice civil engineering and building code standards and processes.
  • Review site installation plans for adequacy with requirements, law, regulation and building code
  • Participate in design reviews, evaluate site infrastructure, and assist with site development issues
  • Apply civil engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews for conformance with requirements, specifications, regulations, and quality control
  • Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues
  • Provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or Government officials
  • Execute significant projects representing an important segment of the overall program
  • Develop or collaborate in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or theories
  • Develop technical reports, make recommendations to Project/Program leadership
  • Advocate recommendations, strategies, and actions to reconcile or resolve novel, conflicting, or controversial issues or policies

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Practical field experience applying building code/construction standards to system installation in a diverse environment.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and 10 years of experience (3 DoD), or 15 years of directly related experience, Professional Engineer (PE) certification desired.
  • Ability to perform regulatory research and develop position papers for distribution to interested parties.
  • 10 years' experience in building construction as licensed builder or certified building code official desired.
  • Candidate must have an active US security clearance.
