The Role:
The Lead Industrial Engineer will work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing systems through indirect management of direct and indirect Industrial Engineers in the facility. They will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. They will be responsible to lead standardized work for future products alongside the core team and help to launch extraordinary products. In steady state, they will drive continuous improvement projects, specifically productivity.
The main purpose of the Lead Industrial Engineer is to provide leadership and support to achieve plant & future program objectives. Additionally, the Lead Industrial Engineer will work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Oversee the update and maintenance of current production documentation including Assembly Process System (APS), Standard Time Data System (STDS), Scrolling, Standard Operation Sheet (SOS), connections and part routings for Master Process Documents (MPD) and labor reporting (GWB)
- Provide resources for input to future production planning, including process and workplace layout
- Provide and retain productivity data for reporting and ensure Direct/Indirect Labor Industrial Engineers are a key resource for continuous improvement activities
- Develop and manage employees
- Promote safe work practices as highest priority and implement objectives for ergonomics, health, safety and housekeeping
- Drive first time quality of all direct/indirect labor IE deliverables
- Create, track, develop and support action plans to achieve annual Plant Performance Gap Targets
- Provide monthly/quarterly metric analysis for headquarter submission
- Oversee completion of operation validations by direct labor IE's
- Confirm IE documentation is maintained as current and accurate within APS, STDS, AutoCAD, MGO and authorized headcount
- Ensure Area IE's actively support production in the resolution of labor relations, quality, health and safety concerns
- Manage Industrial Engineering support for resolution of through-put improvement, line balance, Ergonomic Assessment, Production Trial Runs, quality issues and plant cost studies
- Confirm IE's support Core Teams in the proper documentation and processing of mandatory sequence and Key Product Characteristics (KPC's)
- Oversee direct labor IE line balance activities for current and new models
- Confirm IE's follow and support plant change control process
- Support Global Manufacturing System (GMS) initiatives
- Monitor conveyor line speeds and ensure coordination of changes
- Support external requests for IE studies
- Assess IE's skill set and execute plan to correct inefficiencies, overseeing employee and student development
- Coordinate the management of IE systems administration
- Develop, status, and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules in sufficient detail to monitor progress, assess program status, and identify performance issues in a timely manner
- Use critical path methodology and application in planning development, analysis, and problem resolution
- Optimize sequence of operations and workflow
- Create crew plans to ensure resources are properly allocated and utilized effectively
- Monitor schedule progress and help identify risk areas
- Work to improve efficiencies through waste elimination and process improvements
- Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems
- Provide Technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors and production associates
- Lead site people power planning activities
Additional Job Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3 years of Industrial Engineering experience or 3 years of combined Production and Industrial Engineering experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Leadership experience
- Continuous Improvement experience
- Experience developing and leading productivity initiatives
- Ability to work an off-shift and over-time as required
