RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Scottsdale, AZ that is seeking a Senior PHP Developer who will play a critical role in supporting our Adobe Commerce platform by guiding internal development teams in adopting and delivering within the PHP ecosystem. This role provides the senior-level expertise, mentorship, and technical leadership needed to establish best practices, ensure high-quality delivery, and help our teams build confidence and capability in working with Adobe Commerce.

Responsibilities:
* Establish PHP Development Standards
* Collaborate with engineering leadership to define, document, and promote PHP coding standards and best practices across all development teams working with Adobe Commerce
* Assess current practices and evaluate options for local development, code branching, deployments, and CI/CD processes specific to Adobe Commerce, and recommend scalable workflows that align with existing engineering standards
* Transition Ownership from Vendor to In-House Team
* Reinforce adoption of PHP coding standards and Adobe Commerce best practices through ongoing code reviews, documentation, and pairing sessions, ensuring consistency and quality across engineering teams
* Work closely with architecture, DevOps, and QA teams to identify and address technical constraints or performance bottlenecks in Adobe Commerce, helping to ensure the platform can scale with future business needs (with a focus on international expansion)
* Provide hands-on technical contributions to the Adobe Commerce platform, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-quality PHP code that aligns with business needs and platform standards
* Evaluate and recommend improvements to the existing Adobe Commerce architecture, identifying technical debt, performance issues, and opportunities for modularization and future scalability
* Work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture to shape the technical feasibility of Phase 2 features and assist in backlog development

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent, demonstrating the technical foundation necessary to architect and scale enterprise-grade systems
* 8+ years of hands-on PHP development experience, with a proven ability to deliver production-ready solutions using advanced features in Laravel, Symfony, or Zend-resulting in reduced tech debt and increased development velocity
* Track record of shipping scalable, maintainable, and testable applications, evidenced by high system uptime, low regression rates, and positive end-user feedback
* Demonstrates success in replacing third-party vendor solutions by enabling internal teams to own critical codebases, reducing outsourcing costs and accelerating feature delivery
* Effectively collaborates with frontend teams, leveraging knowledge of frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular to ensure seamless backend-to-frontend integration and exceptional user experience
* Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating alignment and informed decision-making
