Job Description

The Senior Process Engineer will provide process engineering support to the Enterprise Capital Engineering, Adult & Feminine Care and Nonwovens team across the Personal Care Value Stream. The Process Engineer for this role will provide capital project leadership and support in the development, layout, design, installation, and start-up of equipment and ancillary systems to address capacity, capability, innovation, safety, and obsolescence needs for the NA Personal Care Value Stream. Additionally, you will be expected to collaborate across the Supply Chain, R&E, Procurement, mill sites, key OEM equipment suppliers, technical service providers, and construction contractor networks.

Organization Relationships:
  • Reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager: Capital, Adult & Feminine Care and Nonwovens in the Enterprise Capital Engineering Team
  • Interacts frequently within various segments of the Personal Value Stream organization as well as Mill Operating Teams, Staff Manufacturing, Research & Development (R&D), Planning, Distribution, and Procurement.
  • Receives project assignments from the Capital and Senior Capital Managers. May flow to work as needed across the NA Personal Care Value Stream.

In this role, you will:
  • Build subject matter expertise on a platform of converting assets, connecting R&D to the ECE organization while providing process leadership to the team installing these machines and training to the operations crews who will run them.
  • Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation of design, development, and optimization of manufacturing and converting equipment and processes to meet unit objectives.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in leadership of the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel. Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to determine root cause.

  • Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or scientific knowledge aligned with business unit objectives.
  • Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve NA Personal Care Value Stream business results.
  • Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets. This includes completing required project documentation through EFS, EDR, and Appropriation activities and following PMP documentation including Corporate Financial Instructions (CFIs).

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or relevant scientific degree
  • 8+ years of related technical experience in mill, production or staff R&D environments
  • Personal Care converting experience.

Preferred
  • Experience in improving the safe operation of high-speed manufacturing and/or converting equipment and processes, with an ability to translate that knowledge into support of process, product, and capacity improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to mine process data from process data systems and provide clear direction as to opportunity areas for improvement
  • Familiarity with machine startups.
  • Experience working with external technical service providers and converting equipment manufacturers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach less-experienced engineers.
  • Evidence of continuing self-development.

  • Travel is required for this role. Typical level of travel is 20-30%, heavier travel may be required at times during project installations depending on duration or complexity of project.

Salary Range: 105,740 - 130,620 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
