Job Title: Application Developer III / Application Lead (Analytics & Visualization Lead)
Client: U.S. Department of Education (Federal Project)
Locations: Within 1.5 hours of Washington, DC or San Antonio, TX (Onsite one day per week, remote otherwise)
Clearance: U.S. Citizen; Must pass Public Trust background check
Overview:
AFS is seeking a talented Development Lead for Visualization and Reports to take ownership of end-to-end reporting and visualization initiatives for a major federal client. As both a hands-on technical contributor and a project leader, you ll code impactful visualizations and reports while managing timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring clear communication to see projects through to completion. This role is mission-critical for driving data-driven insights in support of Department of Education objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development life cycle for visualizations and reporting solutions, including planning, coding, and launching dashboards and analytic reports.
Work hands-on with Tableau and SQL to build robust, meaningful business insights.
Manage project delivery, balancing technical priorities with business needs and deadlines.
Coordinate and facilitate communication between technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
Oversee end-to-end project completion, ensure alignment, and drive results in Agile environments.
Maintain high standards for data quality and reporting best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Reside within 1.5 hours of either the Washington, DC or San Antonio, TX RTO. In-office attendance is required one full day per week (minimum 8 hours); the rest of the week can be remote.
Extensive hands-on experience with Tableau and SQL.
Proven track record in development leadership balancing technical coding responsibilities with project/team management.
Experience working within Agile or iterative development frameworks.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to collaborate across technical and business domains.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize diverse projects for successful on-time delivery.
Preferred/Bonus Skills:
Knowledge of AWS Databricks.
Demonstrated ability to translate changing requirements into actionable, high-quality analytics and visualizations.
Experience in the federal sector or with large-scale, regulated data projects.
