Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the MTV office three times per week, at minimum.

Join the team driving the future of AI at General Motors. Reporting to a Director on GM's AI Strategy team, which sits under the Chief AI Officer, this high-impact team is charting GM's enterprise-wide AI vision-from customer experience to manufacturing innovation. We're building the infrastructure, governance, and strategic alignment needed to position GM as a leader in AI.

The Role:

As the AI Strategy Lead, you will play a critical role in shaping GM's future through strategic AI initiatives. You will lead efforts to integrate advanced AI technologies into GM's business strategies, culture, and operational workflows.

In this role, your responsibilities include setting and driving a comprehensive, GM-wide AI strategy, championing and promoting cutting-edge AI technologies across GM business units, collaborating closely with GM business units to identify, prioritize, and execute high-impact AI use cases, providing expert consulting and strategic guidance to evaluate AI-driven opportunities, establishing and managing AI governance frameworks to empower innovation while ensuring responsible AI usage, building and scaling core AI infrastructure and tools to enable rapid development, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment of AI models across the organization.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and communicate a clear, actionable AI strategy aligned with GM's business objectives
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, assess, and prioritize AI opportunities that deliver measurable value
  • Drive the adoption of AI tools and methodologies, embedding AI best practices into GM's culture and workflows
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging AI trends and technologies, recommending actionable insights to leadership
  • Lead strategic consulting engagements with internal business units, offering expert guidance on AI-driven solutions and potential impacts
  • Establish robust AI governance practices to support compliance, risk management, and ethical AI standards
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure AI infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and aligned with strategic goals
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of AI initiatives, continuously refining strategies based on performance and business needs.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in AI strategy, technology consulting, or product management
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies, trends, use cases, and governance
  • Proven experience collaborating across diverse business and technical teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work in large, cross-functional orgs.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Advanced degree in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or MBA
  • Prior experience leading AI strategy initiatives in large enterprises
  • Strong knowledge of automotive industry trends and technologies
  • Experience in AI governance frameworks, ethical AI practices, and compliance standards
  • Track record of successfully implementing large-scale AI transformation projects.


Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
  • The salary range for this role is 186,000 to 285,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
