Administer (including install, update and configure) and maintain large SQL Server environments with hundreds of databases and multi-terabyte data volumes.
Manage and maintain database security, roles, and permissions.
Monitor database performance and troubleshoot performance issues, optimizing queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies when appropriate.
Implement and support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On
Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication.
Maintain database documentation, standards, and best practices.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical incidents.
Summary
Establishes and manages data access and support practices for a specific database technology. Develops, implements and maintains documentation, policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of a database.
Job Description
The Database Administrator performs backup and recovery, configures database parameters, and designs prototypes against logical data models. Monitors database and replication servers for resource utilization. Implements database tuning and performance optimization. Creates and maintains user profiles for database access, including login and password information. Maintains and implements Extract, Transform, Load (ETL). Maintains databases and data warehouses to current version levels. May deal directly with customers for issue resolution and testing parameters.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in technology related field required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Two years data management or related work experience in IT industry.
