SUMMARY:
Legacy system pain points and risks
One of Workplace Investing's platforms faces significant pain points and limitations, including technology and business risks such as the inability to quickly respond to technology threat mitigation requests, reliance on a legacy data and processing layer that requires manual effort and leads to inconsistent reporting, and challenges in meeting evolving business needs. Additionally, there are risks of not honoring contractual and regulatory commitments due to outdated systems. Retiring legacy systems presents challenges such as dependencies on these systems for data sources, the need for a clear roadmap to eliminate these dependencies, and the risk of running applications on unsupported technology stacks. Addressing these issues requires infrastructure and security updates, automation of manual processes, and alignment with a strategic future state blueprint for analytics solutions.
Data migration requirements
The data types and attributes to be mapped and migrated include all data points from source systems. This includes derived data sets, reference data, and data points used in analytic packages, investment trends, scatter plots, and seismic outputs. The process involves analyzing and documenting all tables and data elements, mapping them to data lake, identifying gaps, and validating for accuracy. Data completeness will be ensured by performing a thorough gap analysis, documenting all attributes, and addressing missing data elements through work intake processes with data lake team. Additionally, obsolete data sets will be identified and removed to streamline the migration process.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and data analysis needs. Assist in the design of the database by providing insights into data usage and reporting patterns. Validate data quality and integrity in the new AWS RDS database. Support the development of data governance and data quality frameworks.
Qualifications: Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis methodologies. Knowledge of database design principles and experience with SQL queries. Familiarity with AWS, Azure and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI). Understanding of financial data and reporting standards.
