Summary:
This is an engineering lab role, and the candidate will work closely with our Acoustic Design team on audio systems and related for mobile computing products. The ideal candidate would have the desire to learn about product development from the testing and analysis perspective, including acoustic measurements, troubleshooting, rework, and compliance testing for sound quality, noise cancellation, and environmental factors. This role also involves the use of anechoic chambers, sound level meters, and other specialized acoustic testing equipment to ensure products meet customer and industry standards.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $20.00 - $20.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, health savings accounts with qualified medical plan enrollment, 10 paid days off, 3 days paid bereavement leave, 401(k) plan participation with employer match, life and disability insurance, commuter benefits, dependent care flexible spending account, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, accommodations and reimbursement for work travel, and discretionary performance or recognition bonus. Responsibilities:
- Supports engineering activities such as design, test, modification, and assembly of prototype audio components and systems.
- Works from schematics, test protocols, and written/verbal descriptions to perform testing, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Conducts operational tests, fault isolation, and acoustic performance evaluations on systems and equipment.
- Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy acoustic malfunctions, such as sound distortions, frequency anomalies, or noise issues.
- Performs acoustic compliance testing for parameters like sound pressure levels (SPL), total harmonic distortion (THD), frequency response
- Reviews and follow established processes to test preliminary audio system assemblies and prototypes.
- Debugs and characterizes defects in audio systems and components, providing detailed documentation of configurations, passing/failing tests, and findings for product evaluation reports.
- Collaborates with product development engineers to diagnose and replicate acoustic issues or product failures.
- Reviews, design changes or upgrades to existing audio systems and ensures thorough testing is conducted for each design revision.
- Records all test results, maintains lab documentation, and ensures compliance with established lab protocols and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a relevant field technical field; BS degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical environment.
- Familiarity with acoustic testing tools and methodologies, including sound level meters, microphones, audio analyzers, and anechoic chambers.
- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging hardware systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document test results and findings accurately.
- Desire to learn and grow in the field of acoustics and product development.
