Location: Hybrid - Denver, CO OR Remote - will be supporting MST hours

Company / Project Description / Business Driver As a Planning Engineer, you will interact with others in and outside of the organization, working within networking facilities and data centers.  You will Plan the implementation or plan the initiation of projects that implement and/or remove network equipment within our network facilities and data centers.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business. 
Job Description:
The Main Responsibilities FROM The Director:
Planning Engineers who have experience with Long Haul DWDM planning or implementation. Experience with Ciena 6500, Infinera DTN-X, or Nokia 1830 is preferred.
Required Qualifications

  • Consulting level typically with 6+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in designing, planning, and deploying DWDM networks. Ability to evaluate network requirements and develop robust network designs. Experience with various DWDM equipment and technologies.
  • Skilled in interpreting fiber characterization results, including OTDR, CD, and PMD testing. Ability to assess fiber quality and suitability for high-capacity DWDM applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery. Proficient in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential network issues and develop effective solutions. Ability to make informed decisions based on technical analysis and business requirements.
  • Skilled in planning and/or engineering. 
  • Must be capable of handling moderately complex engineering assignments

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative approach to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Self-driven and proactive in identifying opportunities for network improvements.
  • Manages floor space, power, and cooling for regionalized network facilities/data centers.
  • Project manage rack space and power implementations at network facilities/data centers.
  • Schedule the Installation of Infrastructure by setting FCD and DCD.
  • Works in the implementation of new plant construction or modifications to existing facilities. 
  • Orders all Materials needed for the job and tracks parts with material vendors.
  • Bid Jobs with labor Vendors and Issue Labor requisitions.
  • Coordinates between field, Labor Vendor and CCM and complete the implementation on time and budget.
  • Assure that the most feasible, practical, and economical means to complete the work are utilized. Provides cost data to support capital planning and budgeting.
  • Monitors and controls project expenditures. 
  • Utilizes skills in planning and/or engineering. 
  • Resolves interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.
