Technical/Functional Skills

Business Acumen: Understanding market dynamics, customer needs, and business strategies is crucial. A Product Owner should be able to align product goals with business objectives to ensure commercial success.

Technical Knowledge: While not always required to be deeply technical, having a solid understanding of the technology behind the product helps in making informed decisions and communicating effectively with the development team.

Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for articulating the product vision, managing stakeholder expectations, and facilitating collaboration among team members. This includes verbal, nonverbal, and written communication.

Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze data, assess product performance, and make data-driven decisions is vital. Product Owners should be adept at identifying issues and finding solutions quickly.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Expertise in JIRA
  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and customer needs.
  • Work closely with stakeholders (business, customers, and leadership) to gather and define requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, design, and other teams to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).
  • Make decisions regarding scope, priorities, and trade-offs to maximize product value.
  • Monitor product performance, gather feedback, and adjust priorities based on market and user insights.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product increments that align with business objectives.
  • Act as the voice of the customer in development discussions.
