VDart is seeking a Principal Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain PLC- and SCADA-based control systems for renewable energy projects, including Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves HMI development, system testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and implement PLC control systems using function blocks, structured text, and ladder logic.
- Configure and maintain SCADA systems and develop HMI interfaces (Ignition platform preferred).
- Develop control narratives, O&M manuals, and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs).
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and troubleshoot control system issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, commissioning, and field teams to deliver projects on schedule.
- Maintain PLC source code in repository systems and enforce control system standards.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in control system design and HMI development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 10 15+ years of experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (function blocks, structured text, ladder logic).
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Schneider Electric M340/M580 PLCs and Control Expert.
- Experience with Ignition Perspective SCADA platform.
- Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy systems, grid interconnection, and electrical power fundamentals.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
