Purpose:

The Associate Director, Global Data, Platforms & Partnerships is a hands-on, hybrid role of data steward & data feasibility analyst.

The Associate Director will have data stewardship responsibilities that include governance and support for several datasets, to ensure data quality, integrity, security and compliance. He / She will partner with the technology team to maintain and update metadata repositories, ensuring that data definitions, data dictionaries, lineage, and relationships are well documented and accessible to users. He / She will develop deep familiarity with the various real-world datasets such as Optum, IBM Merative MarketScan, Flatiron, etc, that exist within the global data lake.

The Associate Director will partner with data users across the company, to understand data requirements, evaluate real world data sources, and conduct analyses to determine the feasibility of the various data sets and recommend the best data source to answer a key business question or a key research question.

You will be responsible for:

Major responsibilities of this role are data stewardship, data intelligence and data feasibility. This position entails a significant amount of hands-on analytics responsibility.

Key partnership will be with the internal global commercial data science and real-world evidence teams for key commercial and research activities. In addition, there will be close partnership with J&J Technology (JJT) data sciences. This position will report to the Senior Director, Global Data, Platforms & Partnerships.

This includes the following:

Data Feasibility
  • Collaboration: Work with data users across the company to understand project goals and technical requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather input and feedback on data needs and potential solutions.
  • Data Assessment: Evaluate existing data sources to determine their relevance, quality, and availability for specific projects. Analyze data requirements from stakeholders and assess how well current datasets meet those needs.
  • Feasibility Assessment: Conduct feasibility assessments for proposed initiatives. Outline potential challenges, costs, benefits, and timelines associated with the project.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks, evaluate compliance considerations that may impact data utilization.
  • Recommendations: Provide actionable recommendations based on feasibility assessments, including alternative data sources or methodologies. Present findings in clear and concise formats (e.g., presentations, reports).
  • Documentation: Document findings, methodologies, and processes.

Data Stewardship & Enablement
  • Dataset literacy: Know the data source, nuances of the dataset, what differentiates it, how and where it can be used, including different types and formats (structured vs. unstructured).
  • Data Quality Management: Monitor and validate data quality. Identify and address discrepancies or issues in datasets. Ensure data is presented accurately and effectively.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee data retention policies. Ensure appropriate data usage, data storage and data disposal.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation related to data lineage & definitions. Partner with JJT to maintain and update metadata repositories, ensuring that data definitions, data dictionaries, lineage, and relationships are well documented and accessible.
  • Training and Support: Partner with the vendor to provide training and support, fostering awareness. Serve as a point of contact for data-related inquiries and issue resolution
  • Data Integration: Assist in designing integration strategies.
  • Data Governance: Ensure compliance to contractual obligations, data governance policies and procedures.
  • Ex-US data: Develop a good understanding of available ex-US data sources. Partner with therapeutic areas to identify the appropriate ex-us data for insights.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvements in data management practices and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Understand data needs and promote a data-driven culture. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, and commercial data science.

  • Develop knowledge of the therapeutic area, indication and asset you are supporting.
  • Deepen data knowledge and business acumen in the department by sharing knowledge and experience with Global Commercial Data Science colleagues.
  • Set standards of excellence for the team by demonstrating professional expertise, strong work ethic, integrity and professional behavior

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience is required
  • Pharma experience is required.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in pharma is required.
  • Deep understanding and experience with real-world data, particularly EHR, EMR, and Claims data is required.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages -Python, SQL, PySpark, etc. is required.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and tools is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively is required
  • Experience as a Data Steward or a similar role is preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
The expected base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $207,000 USD.

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
