Overview
DecisionPoint seeks a Contingency Communications Coordinator to support the development, activation, and management of emergency communications during crises, outages, disasters, or mission-critical events in a large federal and DoD-aligned operating environment. This role ensures consistent, accurate, and rapid messaging across stakeholders and communication channels during high-pressure scenarios.
The coordinator will support crisis readiness planning, maintain contingency communication frameworks, participate in readiness exercises, and assist in developing prepared messaging templates to ensure MC&FP is able to communicate quickly and effectively during emergencies or disruptions.
This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Contingency Communications Coordinator will:
- Support activation of emergency messaging during crises such as natural disasters, evacuations, major outages, or security events.
- Develop and maintain contingency communication templates, scripts, and response playbooks.
- Coordinate with MC&FP leadership, O&E teams, and technical teams to ensure timely and accurate communication.
- Assist in maintaining 24/7 emergency communication readiness processes and escalation procedures.
- Support crisis and continuity exercises, including table-top and operational drills.
- Monitor real-time conditions during emergencies and provide recommended communication actions.
- Draft, edit, and refine emergency updates, FAQs, situation advisories, and status announcements.
- Ensure messaging accuracy, clarity, and alignment with MC&FP communication governance.
- Maintain contact lists, distribution plans, and continuity communication assets.
- Track crisis communication performance metrics and contribute to after-action reviews.
- Support rapid publication of updates across digital channels (web, social, email).
- Assist in stakeholder notification workflows and crisis coordination meetings.
Clearance Requirement

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Emergency Management, Public Affairs, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience (Required)
- Minimum 7 years of experience supporting communications, emergency management communications, crisis response, or public affairs.
- Experience drafting time-sensitive messaging under operational pressure.
- Experience coordinating across multiple teams during high-tempo events.
- Experience supporting crisis readiness, exercises, or continuity operations.
Technical Knowledge (Required)
- Understanding of crisis communication best practices, escalation procedures, and emergency messaging workflows.
- Experience with digital communication channels including email, web updates, and social media.
- Familiarity with drafting messages for diverse audiences during high-risk events.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
- Experience working in a federal, DoD, or mission-critical communications environment.
- Knowledge of COOP/DR communication requirements or public safety communication standards.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in fast-paced or urgent scenarios.
- Ability to remain calm, structured, and detail-oriented during emergencies.
- Excellent coordination and multitasking abilities under tight timelines.
