What this job involves: The Chief Engineer provides operational management and daily leadership of the engineering team to safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively operate building machinery and systems. This role focuses on achieving 100% uptime while protecting and improving client asset value through reliability-based maintenance programs. The position requires implementing maintenance best practices, managing equipment inspection programs, and ensuring building engineering systems perform their intended functions while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and meeting client needs.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment

Review operational logs to ensure proper equipment function and report problems/malfunctions as needed

Oversee repair and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems and determine maintenance frequencies

Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training and development

Ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies, prepare purchase orders, and develop material sources

Identify safety hazards and implement remediation to ensure safe working environment for staff and occupants

Oversee contractor activities within the building and ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines

Maintain infrastructure and compliance documentation including building drawings and regulatory records

Provide training and support to expand operations staff capabilities and ensure proper use of tools and procedures

Desired experience and technical skills:

Requirements:

Associate Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience

7+ years facility-related work experience including customer service, leadership and supervisory experience

Managerial experience required

Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and construction planning

Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMMS systems

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service

Preferred:

Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or within 90 days of employment)

Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent

Shift/Schedule: 1st Shift/Morning

Salary: $52,300 -$91,700 / year
