SDET (QA Automation Engineer)

Systems Engineering Services is seeking a SDET (QA Automation Engineer) based out of the DC Metro area. This role will require work in office minimum three days a week.

Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled SDET with strong background in back-end testing, test automation frameworks(Selenium/Karate), scripting languages and experience testing in cloud based environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS services, advanced SQL and UNIX skills, automation and AI tools. Python programming experience is required.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Analyze requirements and work with product owners/development team members to understand new features and user stories and design, develop, and execute test cases for testing.Build and maintain robust automation frameworks using Selenium/Karate for UI/API testing.
Develop reusable, maintainable test scripts for functional, regression, and integration testing across web and API layers.Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
Participate in all team ceremonies including PI planning, Internal planning sessions and team retrospectives.Write complex SQL queries to validate data across multiple databases.
Perform data validation and testing across AWS cloud-based data platforms.
Develop/update scripts using Python/Unix for data preparation activities and mockup data conditions/files required for testing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
Identify, log, and track bugs, working closely with the development teams for resolution.
Support automation execution activities Data preparation activities including Data refresh, cleanup, archival and table updates for required execution. Execution supporting backups, generation of expected results and comparison reports for huge volumes of data.

Required Skills
Strong understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies.
Proficient in writing and executing SQL queries for data validation.
Selenium: For UI automation.
Karate Framework: For UI/API testing automation.
Solid experience with Unix commands/scripting for file handling and log analysis.
Working knowledge of test automation tools/frameworks.
Python programming skills for scripting and automation support.
Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS (e.g., S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, SNS/SQS, EMR, Step function).
Strong problem-solving skills in troubleshooting issues in data validations.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other application teams and key business stakeholders.
Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to enhance development workflows.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
6+ years of related enterprise experience
