Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain control systems for industrial cooling applications. This role is focused on implementing and optimizing control strategies to ensure efficient and stable operation of cooling systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in control systems and automation, with a particular focus on thermal management.
Key Responsibilities
Control System Design & Integration
Develop robust control system architectures for industrial cooling environments.
Design and implement adaptive control algorithms to modulate cooling capacity in response to real-time environmental data (e.g., temperature, humidity, thermal load).
Integrate hardware components such as sensors, actuators, PLCs, and RTUs to monitor and control system performance.
Create and maintain accurate electrical schematics, control wiring diagrams, and process flow diagrams.
Programming & Commissioning
Program and configure PLCs and develop custom HMI/SCADA interfaces for operational control of cooling systems.
Lead the commissioning, testing, and validation of control systems to ensure reliable performance and smooth integration.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues during installation and operation.
Collaboration & Project Execution
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance aligns with project specifications and operational goals.
Participate in technical design reviews, contributing insights on control strategies and system optimization.
Support project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for new installations and retrofit projects.
Maintenance & Documentation
Prepare and maintain thorough documentation, including control logic, system architecture, and operational procedures.
Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for active cooling systems.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all systems adhere to relevant industry standards and safety protocols (e.g., UL, CE, local codes).
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degrees or relevant certifications in HVAC, refrigeration, or automation are a plus.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in control system design, programming, and maintenance.
Proficient in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and sensor network integration.
Skills & Competencies
Deep understanding of control systems, automation principles, and cooling system fundamentals (e.g., thermal management, airflow, load distribution).
Skilled in reading and creating electrical schematics and control diagrams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective communicator with the ability to work well in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel and be on-site for system installation, commissioning, and support.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying current with advances in cooling and automation technologies.
