Job Details

Title: Java EE Developer

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)

Client: Texas Health and Human Services Commission -(529601521)

Duration: 10 Months

Due date: 09/11/2025

Interview type: In person required

Position will be 2 days remote with 3 days (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) required to be onsite at the location listed above. Program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position.

Description of Services:

The Java EE Developer are expected to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade applications using Java EE technologies, while aligning with HHSC s goals of modularity, security, and interoperability.

Analyze legacy Java EE components, including EJB, JPA, and SOAP services, to support architectural decision-making.

Participate in application rationalization and transformation planning.

Support technical walkthroughs and documentation activities to map current application behavior, dependencies, and integration points.

Collaborate with architects and business analysts to help ensure modernization efforts retain core business logic and interoperability.

Assist in migrating legacy systems to cloud-native platforms, emphasizing microservices and API-driven architectures.

Utilize AI code analysis tools for examining legacy Java EE applications.

Extract and document detailed business requirements and rules based on existing code.

Work with business stakeholders and technical teams to validate and adjust identified requirements.

Identify and record technical debt, design patterns, and architectural details within legacy systems.

Required skills:

Overall 15 Years of experience with Java

12 Years of Deep hands-on experience in Java and Java EE development, including EJB, JPA, and SOAP-based services. Able to analyze legacy codebases and identify transformation paths for cloud migration.

12 Years of Proficiency in Java SE 1.8 and Java EE 8, including deployment on enterprise-grade application servers.

12 Years of Experience with object-relational mapping and integrating persistence layers with business logic.

12 Years of Ability to work with cross-functional teams including architects, business analysts, and security engineers to align development with business goals.

12 Years ofProven experience with, or strong understanding of, AI code analysis tools for static analysis, code understanding, and pattern recognition.

12 Years of Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.

12 Years of Exposure to cloud-native transformation strategies, including containerization, elastic scaling, and loosely coupled interfaces.

12 Years of Familiarity with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and backlog refinement in collaboration with product owners and SMEs.

12 Years of Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.

12 Years of Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns.

Preferred skills:

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Experience with requirement elicitation and documentation.
