Job Details
Title: Field Service Technician I ( vehicle diagnostics and fault codes, as well as vehicle electrical and electronics systems)
Location: Detroit, MI, USA - 48215
duration: Unit EOY / Yes
Interview: Face-to- face interview - close to work site with a typical duration of 45 minutes.
Interviews will take place on Thursday, June 12th with specific times and the location to be determined.
target start date: As early as 06/23, but certainly by 07/07.
Alternative work schedule:
Beyond initial training period (approximately five weeks) this will be a second-shift position, M-F, 16:30 - 01:00, with potential for OT.
1) Experience in vehicle diagnostics and fault codes, as well as vehicle electrical and electronics systems is very desirable.
2) Knowledge and expertise in Windows operating systems management is required (Linux familiarity, in addition, would be beneficial).
3) Expertise with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications is required.
In this facility the office space / maintenance shop is inside the vehicle factory. The worker will have access to a computer, desk, and work bench. This is a busy and active environment very near the assembly line where the vehicles are built.

Job Description
The successful candidate will have prior work history and a proven track record in the configuration, operation, and maintenance of hand-held portable computers, as well as desktop systems, and/or servers, as well as wireless networks in an industrial manufacturing environment. Knowledge and expertise in Windows operating systems management is required (Linux familiarity, in addition, would be beneficial). Expertise with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience in vehicle diagnostics and fault codes, as well as vehicle electrical and electronics systems is very desirable. A bachelor s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and/or Information Technology would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will work efficiently and respectfully with others throughout all levels of a large corporate hierarchy. Professional appearance, personal integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as are strong oral and written communication skills. He/She will interface regularly with management and engineering groups regarding systems and product performance initiating, reporting on, contributing, and responding to suggestions for improvement. Virtual as well as interpersonal collaboration with vehicle engineering and tooling engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operations through structured problem analysis and troubleshooting should be expected.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, driven, and conscientious. They will work well under pressure and with a well-practiced sense of urgency. They will display a positive state of mind, be very self-controlled, patient, tactful, and diplomatic. A willingness and ability to organize and maintain an orderly and clean working environment are imperative. Some flexibility in scheduling is to be expected. There is potential for occasional travel.
