Job Summary
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) Specialist to join our IT Operations team. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with foundational IT knowledge who are eager to grow in the areas of data protection, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
In this role, you'll support the maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of our backup and recovery systems, helping ensure the availability and integrity of critical data across the organization.

We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) Specialist to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you'll support the maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of our backup and recovery systems, helping ensure the availability and integrity of critical data across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Backup Monitoring & Reporting (40%)
- Monitor Veeam backup job statuses, logs, and alerts
- Identify and escalate failed or incomplete jobs
- Generate daily and weekly backup reports using established tools
- Coordinate with Veeam Support to resolve anomalies
Training & Skill Development (20%)
- Learn Veeam best practices, PowerShell scripting, and pursue relevant certifications
- Shadow senior team members and Technical Account Managers during complex tasks
Workstation Agent Deployment & Configuration (15%)
- Assist with installation and configuration of Veeam agents on servers and workstations
- Set up backup jobs, retention policies, and schedules
- Participate in disaster recovery drills and simulations
- Maintain and update runbooks and recovery documentation
User Support & Ticket Resolution (15%)
- Respond to backup-related support tickets
- Perform file and system restores as requested
System Updates & Patch Management (10%)
- Apply updates to backup software and agents
- Test for compatibility and performance post-update
Other Duties
- Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Prioritize and document work effectively
- Escalate incidents as needed to minimize downtime
Required Skills & Qualifications
Certifications
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of backup methodologies (full, incremental, differential)
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of file systems, storage technologies, and networking fundamentals
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and documentation abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies
Experience Level
- Entry-Level (Ideal for entry level candidates or those transitioning into IT)
