Job Title: Enterprise Architect (Expert Level)
Location: On-site in Tallahassee, FL (Carlton Building at 501 South Calhoun St. and 315 South Calhoun St.)
Contract Term: Through June 30, 2025, with potential 1-year renewal
Hours: Approx. 248 hours for FY25; potential annual total of 2,000 hours

About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Architect (Expert Level) to join our on-site contract basis. You ll play a critical leadership role in designing and aligning enterprise-level architecture strategies that modernize legacy systems and support agency-wide digital transformation initiatives.
What You ll Do
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the Department's business units and external service vendors
- Lead enterprise-level design and documentation of system architecture, integrations, and data flows
- Define and enforce architectural standards, including those for infrastructure and cybersecurity
- Guide process improvements and participate in requirements gathering sessions
- Create detailed documentation of current and future-state architecture across mainframe, web, and mobile platforms
- Collaborate with the PMO, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure compliance and alignment with enterprise goals
- Participate in application modernization efforts, including mainframe migrations and cloud transformation initiatives
- Maintain technical artifacts in a version-controlled shared repository
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on architectural compliance and project progress
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or 4 years of equivalent work experience)
- 7+ years of experience in IT across multiple domains
- 2 3 years of enterprise architecture experience
- 5+ years' experience in the following areas:
- Designing complex IT systems
- Technical design and analysis
- Leading large-scale infrastructure and software development projects
- Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Application integrations across diverse platforms
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to produce architecture models and visual documentation
A Level II Background Check is required for the selected candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience modernizing or migrating mainframe applications
- Expertise in cloud migration (Azure or AWS preferred)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies
- Experience building APIs and application integrations
