Scope of Work: Telecommunications Technician for Command Posts
Telecommunications Technician contractor position to support Command Post (CP) deployment and operations. The Command Post serves as the central hub for operational coordination, communication, and situational awareness during special events or disaster response.
Scope
This Telecommunications Technician will be part of the team responsible for planning, deployment, activation, operation, and demobilization of the Command Post. This includes:
- Communications setup (cellular routers, Wi-Fi, Internet, VPN, radios, telephones)
- IT systems installation and configuration (computers, printers, displays)
- Situational display systems (television, projectors, maps, real-time video feeds)
- Operational support (tech support and logistics coordination)
- 24/7 staffing (as required by Commanding Officer or CP Incident Commander)
Responsibilities
Conduct site survey and assessment
- Coordinate logistics for transportation and equipment delivery
- Assemble and test all communications and IT systems
Provide ongoing technical and logistical support
Facilitate demobilization and restore the site to its original condition
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in deploying and managing wired and wireless networks, computers, and software in field conditions
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity, power, and hardware issues under pressure
Skilled in setting up generators, solar kits, UPS systems, and basic electrical work
- Ability to operate in high-stress, remote, or hazardous environments
- Physical fitness to lift, carry, and install equipment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as required
