Job Description Summary:
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert resource for high-reliability and radiation hardened electronics for space and high reliability military systems applications. Review the selection, assembly and test of EEE (electrical, electronic, electromechanical) parts to ensure selected parts are reliable, effective and suitable. Perform gap analyses to determine the extent to which parts do or do not meet requirements. Create and modify Non-Standard Parts Requests (NSPARS) and Non-Standard Materials Requests (NSMARS) to ensure the guidelines of Parts Materials and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP) are met. Create and modify source control, vendor item, vendor item control, altered item and selected item drawings/documents.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Translates project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures working with cross-functional teams.
  • Innovatively solves issues, drives completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively works with other technical contributors.
  • Builds, debugs, and tests prototypes and deliverable hardware.
  • Prepares documentation for manufacturing, and provides continuous support.
  • Researches and enables innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
  • Engages other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost effective end solutions for products.
  • Drives solutions to complex problems with limited direction - contributes to requirements development, proposes ways forward, and adapts appropriately to changes in requirements.
  • Independently performs complex electronic architectures and designs.
  • Able to manage a task with multiple cross functional members and effectively communicates status to project leadership and customers.
  • Actively mentors less experienced teammates and provides thoughtful, constructive feedback.
  • Support business development and proposal activities.

Additional Job Description:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of common EEE part failure modes
  • Understand and apply "Physics of Failure" analyses for EEE part commodities
  • Demonstrate understanding of operating environments affecting electronic systems
  • Evaluate and inspect design and manufacturing processes for electronic circuits, components, integrated systems and hardware installations, to ensure conformance
  • Demonstrate familiarity with microcircuit and semiconductor technologies including bonding, mounting, packaging and interposer
  • Formulate, evaluate, and apply component failure mechanisms and physics of failure to verify electrical/electronic components conformance to established criteria
  • Independently identify failures, research screening and qualification test plans, and recommend potential technical solutions
  • Support Failure Review Boards to ensure failure analyses account for defects
  • Conduct Parts Materials and Processes Control Boards to mitigate risks of submitted Non-Standard Parts Requests (NSPARS) and Non-Standard Materials Requests (NSMARS) to ensure the guidelines of the MDA (Missile Defense Agency) Parts Materials and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP) are enforced
  • Travel to support various review activities an estimated 5%
