Job Description (JD)

Client is seeking an experienced Mirth Integration Engineer to design, develop, and support healthcare interfaces for payer and provider clients. The role involves hands-on development using Mirth Connect, creating and maintaining HL7 v2.x interfaces, and implementing complex JavaScript-based message transformations and routing logic.

The engineer will integrate EHR systems (such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar) with internal and external healthcare applications, ensuring accurate and secure data exchange. Responsibilities include writing and optimizing SQL queries, performing unit and integration testing, monitoring production interfaces, and troubleshooting message failures.

The candidate will collaborate closely with architects, analysts, and client stakeholders to gather integration requirements, document interface designs and mappings, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data security standards. Experience with Utilization Management (UM) and Care Management (CM) workflows is required. The role is fully remote and requires availability during ET or CT business hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and support healthcare interfaces using Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect)

• Develop complex JavaScript-based transformations, filters, and message routing logic within Mirth

• Build and maintain HL7 v2.x messages including ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, and custom message types

• Integrate EHR systems with internal and external healthcare applications for Genzeon clients

• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformations

• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and production support for interfaces

• Monitor interface performance and troubleshoot message failures and data issues

• Collaborate with Genzeon architects, analysts, and client stakeholders to understand integration requirements

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data security standards

• Document interface designs, mappings, and operational procedures

Required Qualifications

• 5 10 years of hands-on healthcare integration experience

• Strong hands-on development experience with Mirth Connect

• Strong JavaScript development skills, specifically for Mirth transformations and message processing

• Solid understanding of HL7 v2.x standards and healthcare interoperability

• Experience integrating EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar)

• Strong SQL skills including complex queries and data transformations

• Experience supporting production healthcare interfaces

• Understanding of Utilization Management (UM) and Care Management (CM) workflows

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment within ET or CT time zones

Preferred Skills

• Experience with FHIR or RESTful healthcare APIs

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)

• Experience working with payer or provider healthcare organizations
