Solutions Engineer

Responsibilities
This role has an approximate workload breakdown as follows:
Leading Professional Services Projects: 40%
Resolving Professional Services Tickets: 20%
Handling Support Escalations: 20%
Supporting Internal Infrastructure: 10%
A list of job responsibilities includes:
- Solution Design: Assist in developing solution architectures (e.g., VDI, Azure deployments, router/firewall setups) that align with client needs and integrate with existing systems.
- Risk Management: Help identify and address risks in designs and implementations to support client stability.
- Solution Implementation: Support the deployment of solutions like server migrations, 365/Google migrations, and infrastructure updates, considering their effects on operations.
- Project Management: Contribute to projects from start to finish, helping manage expectations, timelines, and challenges under team guidance.
- Support Escalations: Serve as an escalation point for technical issues, providing assistance to the team as required.
- Technical Guidance: Share knowledge on standards and tools in networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
- Time Capture: Log your time in our Professional Services Automation (PSA) software to track client impact.
- Client Collaboration: Work with clients to match solutions to their goals, offering basic training and upholding a customer-first ethos inspired by Vermont values.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with departments for smooth service delivery and escalation support.
- Continuous Learning: Keep up with industry trends (e.g., VDI, Azure) to improve contributions.
- Documentation: Update records of projects and processes to aid team efficiency.
- Automation Identification: Identify opportunities for automation in routine tasks.
- Process Improvement: Suggest enhancements to best practices in the professional services team.
- Other Tasks: Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Candidates should show strong technical abilities, backed by education, certifications, or experience. A minimum of three years in IT support or professional services, including Active Directory environments, is required.
Among other criteria, the following requirements will be evaluated:
- Experience in solution design and deployment, such as VDI (e.g., Omnissa Horizon), server migrations, 365/Google migrations, Azure, and networking (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
- Solid project management skills to support implementations with team oversight.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills to handle technical issues.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly to clients and work well with teams.
- Familiarity with Professional Services Automation (PSA), Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), and ticketing systems.
- Reliable transportation for occasional on-site visits, with potential for remote work discussions.
- Personal background check required prior to employment.
