Job Title: Data Scientist / Big Data Engineer Location: Remote / Local to TX preferred Duration: Long-term Contract
Job Description:
The State of Texas is seeking an experienced Data Scientist / Big Data Engineer to support enterprise data initiatives focused on data warehousing, ETL design, and large-scale database integration projects. This position requires strong experience in big data platforms, traditional RDBMS systems, and hands-on work with data modeling tools and ETL technologies.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for data warehousing and big data platforms.
Perform advanced data modeling, profiling, and integration using tools like Erwin.
Implement and manage ETL workflows using Informatica, integrating data from DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle.
Support business intelligence and analytics teams by ensuring high data quality, performance, and availability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions.
Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex data-related issues.
Assist in the migration and optimization of legacy systems to modern data architectures.
Required Skills:
15+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or related roles.
ETL tools: Informatica (PowerCenter preferred)
Database systems: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server
Data Modeling: Erwin or equivalent tools
Data Warehousing concepts and implementations
Strong SQL skills across multiple platforms.
Experience working in large-scale data environments or public sector projects is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
