Job Title: Android/IOS device tester
Work Location : Philadelphia, PA (onsite)

Job Description:

This position requires hands on experience with Android and/or iOS based mobile devices including high level understanding of wireless telecom ecosystem, and passion/discipline to work with new and emerging products and technologies. The Engineer 3, Device Development will be responsible for managing all the test plans, test samples, test software/configuration, execute all the regression testing and validate the test partner/OEM test results by executing random test cases, for all the mobile devices and products managed by the Xfinity Mobile team. This position also requires understanding of software and hardware testing methodologies with special emphasis on wireless telecommunications, mobile devices, working closely with internal and external partners to understand the testing and sample requirements, manage the process of sample distribution, activations, software upgrades/flashing and managing the test samples inventory.
He/she will also manage the test plans by adjusting those based on the changes in the requirements, manage the process around the testing and bug fixing of all the reported bugs
Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, and revise test plans and procedures and quality standards for software and hardware, focused on wireless products and related accessories
  • Manage the cross functional bug reporting and resolution process, ability to SW upgrade the devices using OEM tools.
  • Manage the test sample requirements and inventory. Ensure the distributed samples are tracked and upgraded to the latest available firmware level
  • Validate OEM and test partners test results by executing the regression test plan and perform other adhoc random testing
  • Test and certify MRs (maintenance releases or software updates) and Security MRs by executing the regression plan and the test cases impacted by the MR scope.
  • Manage activation and deactivation of the test samples
  • Compile test results data, collect logs and write required engineering reports, to report to OEMs and other fix agents.
  • Update issues tracking and management tools to ensure all the information is current and properly shared.
  • Troubleshoot related issues and test, maintain, and monitor relevant solutions and logs, Field testing if required to reproduce the issue.
  • Monitor customer-reported issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop test methods to improve overall customer satisfaction.
  • Deploy new test tools as required.
  • Knowledge in JIRA and Confluence.
  • Understanding of LTE and 5G RF and Core technologies.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and convincingly with all areas of the company technical and non-technical - as well as with external parties.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and internal Development and E2E teams.
  • Self-Starter and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
Education Level - Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Field of Study Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, Engineering or other related fields.
Certifications n/a
Years Experience 5+ years in product development and/or technology management roles, including 3+ years in mobile and/or wireless space

  • Experience in identifying causes of defects, developing improvement processes, and communicating solutions to management or customers.
  • Experience with the industry practices/processes for Certifiying mobile products for an MNO or MVNO.
  • Working knowledge of iOS platform and familiarity with iOS devices iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches or Android Platform with experience handling various OEMs.
