Role: SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) Administrator

Location: Houston, Texas

We are looking for a seasoned SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) Administrator to support a SAP Data Services (DS) upgrade project, which includes a migration of the underlying Operating System, modernizing the platform from AIX and Windows Server 2016 to Linux (RHEL/SLES) and Windows Server 2022. The candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, validating, and stabilizing the BOBJ and DS landscape during and after the migration.

Key Responsibilities:

Upgrade & Migration Planning

Lead and execute the SAP Data Services and BusinessObjects upgrade 4.3.

Coordinate the Operating System migration and ensure compatibility of BOBJ and DS with the new environment.

Create detailed upgrade/migration runbooks, rollback plans, and environment validation checklists.

System Installation & Configuration

Perform fresh installations of BOBJ and Data Services on the new OS environment.

Configure servers (CMS, FRS, Job Servers, Oracle 19c, MYSQL, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, etc.).

Set up Tomcat, connectivity drivers (ODBC/JDBC), and integration with Oracle 19c and SQLDB.

Content & Environment Migration

Use Promotion Management (LCM) to migrate reports, universes, and users between environments.

Migrate DS repositories and validate batch jobs, transformations, and data flows.

Validate universe integrity (IDT/UDT) and data connections post-migration.

Security & User Management

Reconfigure and test LDAP/AD integration, SSO, and user authorizations.

Ensure secure access management and reapply folder/report-level security.

Testing & Validation

Perform extensive system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Validate scheduled reports, WebI/Crystal functionality, DS job execution, and performance benchmarks.

Monitor logs and resolve post-migration issues related to job failures, report errors, or service downtime.

Assist with unit and integration testing of migrated jobs, help identify and resolve job failures, connectivity issues, script incompatibilities, and support performance tuning if issues arise during migration .

Performance Tuning & Support

Tune job and report execution performance in the new OS environment.

Support environment stabilization and resolve upgrade-related issues promptly.

Provide documentation, training, and handover to operations/support teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

12+ years of experience as an SAP BusinessObjects Administrator, with END to End upgrade experience from SAP DS 12.2 to SAP DS 4.3

Proven experience with SAP Data Services upgrades

Strong experience with OS-level migrations (Windows Linux or version upgrades)

Deep understanding of BOBJ architecture: CMC, CMS, FRS, job servers-Oracle 19C, MYSQL and processing servers

Experience in BOBJ & DS installation, configuration, and patching

Expertise in universe design (IDT/UDT) and content migration using LCM

Experience with report and job validation post-upgrade/migration

Hands-on with Tomcat, Web Application Servers, and network configurations

Strong experience and Familiarity with SAP source systems (HANA, BW, ECC) and database connections (Oracle, SQL Server)
