Job Details

Job Description: The Manager Software Engineering at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will perform analysis and provide estimates for the development effort across various applications as part of yearly planning. Manage and provide technical leadership to team of software engineers to develop and deploy application features. Lead technical efforts across multiple applications and multiple teams aligned to the organization's priorities and ensure timely delivery of a quality product to end users. Ensure implementation of best practices, standards, production stability, root causes analysis and monitoring in the application. Participate in code review for each feature. Own and manage technical roadmaps, balancing new features, service reliability, technical debt reduction and business efficiency like CI/CD Pipeline, unit testing, regression testing and perform root cause analysis with learner and growth mindset. Coordinate with product team, Business Team and dependent engineering teams on a regular basis on planning, development and implementations of various features of applications. Lead mentor, guide, and coach cross functional engineers within the division for technical and leadership growth. Participate in hiring process to grow and maintain team. Work with direct reports on development and career planning. Collaborate with senior leadership to understand Enterprise and Team goals and help individual engineer to define and achieve those goals. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $144,376- $252,200 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a technology lead or related occupation. Experience must include 4 years with each of the following: (1) Java, Javascript, ReactJS, NodeJS, and HTML; (2) AWS services and CI/CD; (3) working with Dynatrace, Jenkins, Gitlab and Agile methodologies; (4) Container orchestration including Kubernetes; (5) developing cloud-based, Dockerized applications and microservices; and (6) DevOps.
